Sam Smith, il nuovo anno si apre con la preziosa eredità del 2014

Per Sam Smith, quello che si sta per concludere è un anno da incorniciare. Vincitore di una serie di riconoscimenti, a cominciare dal Critics’ Choice Award, inizierà il 2015 con la speranza di ottenere almeno uno dei sei GRAMMY Award a cui è candidato.

In 34 anni dalla precedente occasione, Sam Smith è il primo artista maschile - nonché il primo artista maschile inglese di sempre - ad ottenere tutte e quattro le principali nomination ai GRAMMY Awards in riferimento alla pubblicazione di un lavoro d’esordio. Infatti, il suo In The Lonely Hour è stato nominato quale Album Of The Year, mentre il singolo Stay With Me è candidato ai riconoscimenti Record Of The Year e Song Of The Year. L’interprete ha ottenuto anche una nomination nella categoria Best New Artist, una in quella per il Best Pop Vocal Album (In The Lonely Hour), e un’altra rivolta alla Best Pop Solo Performance (Stay With Me).

Un anno fa individuato vincitore del Critics’ Choice Award, conferitogli lo scorso febbraio durante l’edizione 2014 dei BRIT Awards quale migliore promessa della musica britannica, si è successivamente assicurato il BBC Sound Award nel segmento miglior artista maschile. In seguito è stato premiato durante la consegna degli American Music Awards, i Q Awards, i Mobo Awards e gli MTV EMAs.

Oltre a Sam Smith, nominati in sei categorie dei GRAMMY Awards del 2015 sono pure Beyoncé e Pharrell Williams.

La 57.a edizione dei GRAMMY Awards si terrà l’8 febbraio. La cerimonia di consegna si svolgerà presso lo Staples Center di Los Angeles (California).
